Aloha! Thank you for stopping by Hawaii High Life. I am a serial entrepreneur, writer and really curious person sharing my Hawaiian life with you. Get comfortable, grab a fruity drink and let’s talk story.
Motown meets Hula. Waikiki Meets Me.
I’m a native Detroiter who (with my cool ass husband, Cortez) moved to Oahu two years ago. I sold everything from my near-downtown art gallery and boutique and our home. We packed four large suitcases, shipped our car and home contents, and hopped a one-way flight from DTW to HON. I’ve always been the family adventurer, but this was a big step even for me. I hope to be an inspiration for my children, friends and family( and to myself!) to step out and do something grand.
Long ago I had this vision of a woman on a cliff at the edge of the sea. She sat there with the peace of a person that has never lived in this world. I saw her from overhead. Looking down as though I was a drone. I could not see her face, but I could see her white flowing dress and barefeet and I could feel her calm. I could feel the moisture in the air and the breeze on my face and I knew her. I knew she was me and that I was on that cliff. I wrote about it in my journal and life went on. Decades later I woke up for the first in Honolulu. I remembered that vision and smiled.
An Urban Peek at Island Life.
Hawaii High Life will share a unique perspective of life in “paradise”. I’ll give my view and experiences with everything from false missile alarms and erupting Kiluea to the cost of living and cultural dynamics. I look forward to sharing with you. Feel free to share your comments and experiences with me.
